One of its aims is to break down and make worthless every form of identification that you currently hold, forcing you to take the government issued and run ID Card. The constant and repeated release of your personal information by Government and big business is not down to ineptitude, it is by design.
This is happening right across Europe, and in 2010 there is a project to be finished called e-ID which is closely linked to the SEPA project (Single European Payment Area) in which all banks operating in Europe will have to be interoperable anywhere in the new empire with their electronic cards.

The new SEPA bank cards can also double as e-ID cards.

This is a useful link for understanding where e-ID cards are going, especially read some of the links in the article such as the Porvoo7 and Porvoo8 conference links. (Porvoo is a town in Finland where some of the leading industrial and IT companies meet regularly to set policy for the EU to follow, as well as the e-Japan card, the Asian IC card and the US PIV programme, personal identity verification)
And you thought the EU was doing their empire building alone!!.
Here for instance is the agenda for the Porvoo8 meeting (which for the first time was openly held in Brussels), along with supporting documents.

So you see, unless we commit to destroying the NIR, setting our nationals free, we too will become part of this global e-ID strategy which at the end of the day is not being run by Government, but by private business. Global corporatism.
Always being sold as 'better government services', but being used for other purposes, here is the EU next steps to i2010.

All I can say is 'Wake up people', stop thinking like Iain Dale. The new politics is not a game, its bigger than silly points scoring, its bigger than the UK, its bigger than Europe, it is a prelude to something much bigger still.
Here is the Global e-ID programme.

We should now be asking bloody awkward questions of our MP's, and for those who claim ignorance, show them the evidence.
Lets begin to let the people know what their Government has in store for them. Gordon Brown knows, that's why he continues to push for the ID card, because his masters have told him to do so, as they will a Tory or LibDem government.
The Libertarian Party is committed to abolishing the ID Card programme, AND the NIR that sits behind it.
