Timing is everything. That is what the comedian will tell
you, its also what the General will tell you, and for our politicians it’s the difference
between being swamped by an unpopular policy and getting the agenda changed.
The unpopular policy is definitely the European
constitution. The story just wont go away, and the calls for the government to
honour its promise of a referendum are getting louder by the day.
The news story is the Foot and Mouth outbreak on a farm in Surrey.
In a statement, Defra said: “The present indications are
that this strain is a 01 BFS67-like virus, isolated in the 1967 foot
and mouth disease outbreak in Great Britain.”
The strain is
present at the Pirbright site's Institute of Animal Health and was used
in a vaccine batch manufactured last month.
The fact that the strain of virus in the latest foot and
mouth outbreak has been sourced to a Government run facility that both
manufactures the disease and processes it for vaccine may well be
co-incidental, but the timing makes it look all too much like a put up job,
especially with Defra’s pro-European anti-England history in these matters.
Not possible I hear you say.
Really? Well go back to 2001 when the last foot and mouth epidemic struck Britain.
It was well reported then that the belief of many was that it was a contrived
event. The link here shows the sheer lies, contrivance and incompetence, the sourcing of railway sleepers for use in pyres weeks before the outbreak, and the role of the EU in both setting policy, over-riding MAFF and the UK government and setting compensation levels.
It suited and served government well, allowing them to put
back local elections whilst using the politics of fear at a crucial time,
filling the headlines with anything but election news.
That was then followed in February this year when the H5N1
outbreak on a Turkey Farm in Norfolk was suspiciously quickly investigated and
compensated whilst the questions over source, responsibility and trucking of diseased carcasses across the UK in open trucks left much to be desired, some of which
are still not answered. This again raised the suspicion that it was also
a contrived event.
It has even crossed my mind that this was an accidental release, when I asked myself the question why were they manufacturing a 1967 vaccine? A strain of the virus that has not been seen in Europe for 40 years?
Perhaps the real planned release was set for October, a little closer to the Portuguese summit and the final signing of the constitution, but this accident caught them off guard.
As the pressure against a European take over of Britain mounts, and the voice of the people grows ever stronger, this government is now getting
desperate, and will call upon almost any method of distraction to take the
pressure off Gordon Brown to hold the referendum, as again this evening we see
slaughtered (but still infected) animals being transported in OPEN grain trucks
from the farm in Surrey to the incinerators in Somerset, the other side of the country, knowing that this disease can be spread through the air.
This government must be held accountable for ALL
of its actions. It must not be allowed to divert attention and change the news
agenda’s, our focus must remain on the European Constitution (as Gordon
Brown calls it) and our demands for a referendum.
This government has learned a lot about propaganda from the Authoritarian states of the past.

From Grendel we hear that Defra has imposed a 5 mile air exclusion zone around the infected farm, to keep the news/media helicopters away. Don't these idiots understand that the more they try to do in secret, the more distrust they breed.
Daily Telegraph says Brown is accused of trying to deflect criticism.
One of the Vets allotments, linking both farms via a stream is investigated here.
and Pirbright workers have their backgrounds checked amid allegations of sabotage.
