POLICE closed streets near London's
Canary Wharf
financial district today after an unexploded terror missile was found on a
construction site. 

Bomb disposal experts were called in to make the missile
safe after it was unearthed close to the east London
complex that houses 80,000 office workers during the working week, police said.

Police closed several roads around the site in Millharbour,
a road in the former docklands. 

“Ambulance, fire and police are there and the building site
has been evacuated,” a London
police spokesman said. The area was cordoned off, he said.

Police have issued arrest warrants for 2 men, said to be
responsible for delivering the missile into the docklands area of London, but
are confident that all the anti terror laws at their disposal would soon bring
the terror suspects to justice.

But as the UK
security services have apparently not been checking the Interpol
list of active terrorists, and history lessons have been bastardised and are no longer a full part of the UK
school curriculum, many younger police officers did not realise that both the
suspects, named as Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring are already dead.

 

I am of course talking about the Second World War V1 flying bomb that was unearthed by workmen in docklands today (with virtually zero coverage in the UK), but depending on how you report  these things, anything can be made to sound scary, something the UK government has been using extensively over the past 10 years to gain political advantage in its politics of fear programme to advance draconian anti terror laws in Britain.

In 1943/44 when these things were coming into London, over 2,500 fell on the city, there were no anti terrorist laws removing our civil liberties, no mass surveillance and no mass panic in the streets of London.

England didn't need more anti terror laws and 90 day detention then, and we don't need it now.

How little do the Empire makers in Brussels and the Scottish Raj understand England and the English.

Samizdata has posted A public service warning! which I feel is important enough to repeat.

You surf the internet at random using
FireFox (which generally you should), you may stumble across a website,
which could infest your machine with a virus. But this is nothing new,
I have heard about these evil websites full of Trojans and other nasty
viruses and I know better… I hear you cry. Apparently, this
particular attack does not require a download. Which means that is
unlikely to be trapped by your anti-virus software, certainly in the
short-term.

Protecting yourself for now is fairly simple. You will need to make a trivial modification to your FireFox settings.

To do this, start FireFox, enter the URL “about:config”,
scroll down, and for each of the following entries make sure it is set
to “true”.

If it isn’t, right-click the line and choose “Toggle”, which will set the value to “true”

network.protocol-handler.warn-external-default
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.mailto
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.news
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.nntp
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.snews

This will at least give you a warning that Firefox is being asked to
do something suspicious; you will have to judge for yourself whether it
is nasty.
