Everyone has been warned again and again about all of this….

NuLab – Destroying Britain from the inside out.

The US government wants a
blanket right to tap secretly all international phone calls and e-mails made
and received by US citizens.

In a letter to Congress in which he proposed changes to the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act, Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell said,
“The proposal makes clear that court orders are not necessary to
effectively collect foreign intelligence about foreign targets overseas. The
proposal would also provide a means of obtaining assistance that may be
required from private parties.”

This means the government could force communications companies to
hand over customers' details, records and content of their messages. Nor
would it have to prove
a prior link between terrorism or serious organised
crime. Information gained would be available to officials for 10 years.

The proposal prevents communications companies from telling their customers
that they are subject to investigation, and protects them from being sued by
customers. (source).

In the UK
telecoms providers will have to retain data about telephone calls for one year,
under legislation
passed by parliament on 25 July
.

In a statutory instrument coming into force on 1 October this year, the home
secretary, Jacqui Smith, enacted last year's European
data retention directive
, which told member states to retain traffic and
location data on telephone calls to assist in tackling crime. It said countries
should set the retention period from six months to two years. (source).

This now means that for any UK
company that does business in the US,
you now have no secrets, commercial or otherwise, as the new US law will allow
wire tapping, listening into the calls.

UK companies already have to comply with the Sarbanes Oxley
Act and hand over their accounts to the US, they have their financial
transactions handed over by the EU to the US if you use SWIFT, your personal
details handed to the US if you travel to the states and if the American
authorities don’t like the way you do business, they can conduct corruption
hearings and can have you extradited to stand trial without recourse or proof to
a UK court.

What is the UK
government doing to protect the interests of UK
companies ???

Absolutely nothing…..why, don't you know its all for your own good, its for your security, its all in the name of anti terrorism.

from the inside out.

Security and privacy advocacy groups and RFID vendors hit out at the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s decision for using EPC UHF Gen 2
tags in IDs being developed as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel
Initiative. All this was uttered at the congressional briefing in
Washington.

Neville Pattinson, V.P, Gemalto stated:

We have a situation where the government is issuing
[identity] cards to themselves that are more secure than what they are
about to issue to the citizens. There is something significantly wrong
with the situation.

He addressed around fifty congressional staffers, industry
representatives and government officials at the venue. In this speech
Pattinson referred to the Common Access Card which have been issued by
the US Department of Defense and is being used by twelve million active
duty personnel’s. In his speech Pattinson urged the attendees to
question the policy of government agencies with regards to the PASS
card. He stated that contactless smart card technology can only ensure
that PASS card program will be deployed in such a manner so that the
government gets electronically authenticated and forge-proof identity
documents which would protect the privacy of US citizens.

There seems to be concern over the use of UHF EPC inlays in PASS
cards. The Bush government had zeroed on these cards as an alternative
to US passports used by citizens making frequent land border crossing.
Though there has been very less opposition to PASS cards but still
agencies have been stubborn with regards to considering an alternative
to what is being regarded as insecure RFID cards. Congress seems to be
delaying the PASS program since it seems to be unhappy over DHS going
with insecure technology choices. This delay is aimed at convincing the
Congress to conduct more trials of the technology before PASS cards are
rolled out to the citizens.

James Wiley from Texas Instruments stated that both the government
and the citizens were having serious and legitimate concerns which must
be addressed and security should never be opted for at the price of
operational efficiency and privacy and clear rules must be set for
addressing both the groups. He stated that there should be clear rules
with regards to procedural and technological aspect of the
identification system.

Which just goes to show how insecure the new RFID passports are in the UK and across the rest of Europe, but we are not allowed the debate.

The UK government have consistently refused to open the debate on the security issues around the RFID element of both the UK passports and the planned ID Cards for its citizens.

IS ANYONE LISTENING !!!

This disturbing news item from the BBC tells of how DEFRA is cutting back the grant money for the upkeep and restoration of the British Canal system operated by British Waterways.

As anyone who lives on or near a canal will know, as the signs all along them proudly state that the restoration and upkeep is funded by European Union grants.

The UK government provides funds from the British taxpayer for the running of British Waterways, and its operating costs, but with most of the capital works that it undertakes funded by the UK Lottery, the Heritage Fund, the European Union and private contributors.

If the case is true that UK government grants are being cut back, what is DEFRA doing with all that European Money?
Has DEFRA been told by Brown to pay for flood damage out of existing planned programmes?
Robbing Peter to pay Paul? more Gordonomics?

a quick google search 'british waterways european grants' will show how much euro money has and is spent on our canals.

Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik has been forced to welcome Gabriela Irimia's twin sister into his home.

The

her – so Lembit has now decorated the spare room so that both Cheeky
Girls can stay with him.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday:
“Gabriela loves Lembit and is really looking forward to tying the knot.
But she really misses Monica's company and did not want to live apart
