Pupils as young as 10 are being asked if they smoke
and whether their mothers are in paid work as part of a
Government-backed survey branded “Orwellian” by parents' groups. (source)

About
120,000 pupils have already completed the survey called Tellus2 by Ofsted, the
education watchdog, which is compiling a database on children's
lifestyle, health and happiness, and detailed questions about their parents.

Children, who are advised that they do
not need to ask parents' permission before taking part, are asked:
“Does the mum or step mum that you live with have a paid job?”

No doubt to cross check with the DWP database !!

They are also asked to rate how “safe or unsafe” they feel at school
and home, how many times they have drunk alcohol in the last month, the
number of cigarettes smoked, and whether they receive free school meals.

Although pupils do not have to give their name, they are asked to
provide postcodes, sparking fears the information could be used by
police or social services.

The school name or school postcode should be enough, and questions should only be about life in the school.
How many of these children have to use fingerprint ID's to use their PC's for the online survey I wonder, so names and addresses are already known, and the children identified.
This is about gathering information about home and parents from children who are too young to understand the consequences. This is disgusting and immoral, this is probably illegal, this is definitely outside of Ofsted's remit. This is state sponsored child abuse.

OFSTED are there to inspect schools. They are not there to gather information for Stasi style databases.

Say NO to ID cards, Say NO to the Database state.

p.s. If any teachers out there have a copy of the questionnaire, I would be happy to publish it.

Implementing the smoking ban in England will cost
taxpayers, restaurateurs and pub landlords at least £100 million more
than the Government originally budgeted.

The
Department of Health estimated that the bill for the ban, that comes
into force in a month's time, would run to £1.6 billion, and on that basis NuLab passed legislation.

New figures show that the Health Department significantly underestimated.

Initially,
it set aside £1 million for “education/communication” on the law, but
now admits that the total budget for advertising the ban on television,
billboards and leaflets stands at £8.7 million.

It
also calculated that enforcement would cost no more that £8 million.
However, it has already allocated £29.5 million to local authorities to
train and hire enforcement officers.

Most significantly, it estimated the implementation costs for workplaces would be “minimal”.

The British Beer and Pub Association alone says that its
members have already spent at least £70 million on converting their
premises. The cost of lost business is estimated to be far higher, with
Britain's biggest brewer, Scottish & Newcastle, reckoning £10
million will be wiped off its profits.

The Bingo
Association predicts that 200 bingo halls will close after the ban.
Some 50 per cent of bingo players smoke, twice the national average. (source)

The cost of Government social engineering is huge. In financial terms it seems that the NHS cannot get their figures right (but that is becoming the norm right across this government), based on hugely underestimated or even perhaps fabricated costs to get the legislation through, but in human terms the cost to businesses, jobs and peoples right to an informed choice is overwhelming.

But as we know, Tony Blair's legacy will always be that he is right at any cost in building his Neo-Nazi society, the civil rights of individuals always come second.
