The BBC is running a story on its website that
hails BENEFIT CHEATS FACE LIE DETECTORS

Update – BBC has now changed its headline to BENEFIT STAFF TO USE LIE DETECTOR (story remains the same).

Sky News is running the same story on their website LIE TESTS FOR FRAUDSTERS

The Daily Express also runs the story BENEFIT CHEATS FACE LIE DETECTORS.

The system first analyses the characteristics of a caller's
“normal” voice to establish a benchmark.

This ensures it
takes any natural variation, for example due to nerves or shyness, into
account.

Software which analyses changes in a caller's voice is to be used in a pilot scheme to help identify suspect cases at the start of a claim.

The software then
looks for changes in voice tone and frequency and performs thousands of
mathematical calculations to identify signs that someone could be lying.

Benefits staff
can then ask for further evidence to support any suspicious claims.

However when you
read the story, what it should say is

EVERYONE CLAIMING BENEFIT FACES LIE DETECTORS – guilty until proven innocent
 

This is blatant government propaganda.

This surely gives weight to the claim that the BBC and Sky News and other MSM just repeat government propaganda rather than reporting news. The plans sound very similar to those outlined in 2005 by then Work and Pensions Secretary David Blunkett.

Another item in
the BBC article that pricked my ears was a paragraph that stated:

It will be tested
on housing and council tax benefit claims first, before being rolled out to job
centres later in the year.

WHY WOULD THEY
WANT LIE DETECTORS IN JOB CENTRES ?

A better use of public money would be to trial it on
our politicians first. PMQ's would be a good start.

Hewitt told MPs yesterday that she will resign as health secretary if the NHS
in England does not break even
financially by March.

Her commitment came under
cross-examination by members of the Commons health select committee concerned
that the NHS's half-year accounts showed a third of NHS trusts are forecasting
deficits totalling almost £1.2bn.

The worst Health Secretary this nation has ever seen, taking lessons from Gordon Brown and fiddling the books just doesn't do it.

We now call upon Hewitt to fulfil
at least one promise in her political life. RESIGN

Regular visitors to this blog will know that I've been
keeping an eye
on government purchases and orders for CBRN clothing and equipment to be used
in the event of a dirty bomb attack. Two additions to the list today: 12,000
CBRN compatible helmets and 10,000
personal communication systems.

The 12,000 helmets will be used in conjunction with the 12,000 Biohaz
Protective Suits ordered in December last year. Though why they
didn't order the helmets at the same time as they ordered the suits is anyone's
guess.

There's also a change in the contact details for these tenders. When the biohaz
suits, Crowd Containment Barriers and Public Address Systems were put out to
tender in December, the name of the Buyer organisation was given as the Home
Office Crime Reduction and Community Safety
Group. In
what appears to be a slight change in emphasis, the Buyer organisation for
these two contracts is the Counter
Terrorism and Intelligence Directorate.

Incidentally, one of the UK's leading suppliers of CBRN
clothing and equipment, Remploy Frontline, has added an interesting graphic to their website. A clever
marketing ploy it may be, but it didn't half give me nightmares.

Things
have been remarkably quiet on the Terror threat front in recent months,
following the disclosure by blogs and media outlets in the pattern that had
developed of bad news day for government, media non stories followed
immediately by a high profile police/terrorist event. We even suggested that many
of those incidents were staged, as in the majority of cases people were later
quietly released without charge.

In
the event of a staged ‘event’ involving a dirty bomb, we can expect the
government to immediately invoke the Civil Contingencies Act, assume emergency
powers and declare martial law. 

We are now wondering, just
how close to the May elections this ‘event’ will occur.

I
will refer Civil Servants to an earlier
blog, because the well being of this nation is in your hands.
