Why are the
LibDems still playing for a bit part in government. Are they so unsure of their
abilities that they still consider themselves unable to govern. Why are they
setting the conditions on Gordon Brown to change, with the caveat that they then
might consider going into partnership with a Lib/Lab pact.

We the voters don’t
want Gordon to change, we want him and the rest of NuLab out. 

Ming called on
Gordon Brown to end the authoritarian attack on civil liberties, to grasp the
challenge posed by climate change, break open the poverty trap, to trust the
people by devolving power and to ensure that Britain's foreign policy should not be set in Washington.

He should have
gone further and called for an end to ID cards, and an end to the Databases, he
should have said there would be no Data sharing, and get rid of the spin, the
Special Advisors and the PR consultancies, stop all the IT projects until a
review of each one had taken place and cancel the ones that had no direct
benefit to the voters.  

He should have
said that he would rebuild the NHS by getting rid of the PR firms, administrators
and pen pushers and invest again in doctors and nurses, again making medication
and drugs available to patients and harmonising the hospitals under a Matron
system.

If he had said
that the Police would be asked to police again rather than be target driven box
tickers and exclude them from politics, if he had said that he would take
eduction back to the 3 R’s and ensure that propaganda would never again be
taught in schools. 

If Ming Campbell
had stood up today and said ‘I will do these things’, vote for me and I will do
it, then he would have voters flocking to hear more.

This country has
gone so far down the road towards totalitarianism, with a Tory party that
appears to offer nothing different, for an opposition leader to act boldly,
decisively would be such a shock to Westminster that this government could not last
beyond the May elections.

If Ming Campbell
could summon up the balls to be that leader, he could be Prime Minister within
months.

This government
is obsessed with collecting every piece of information about you. Through a myriad
of laws and schemes it wants to know everything about your life, your home, possessions,
money, entitlements, pensions etc etc. 

It tells us in so
many ways how safe this information will be with government, how it will
provide protection from identity thieves.

It is now passing
a new law – specifically designed TO GIVE THAT INFORMATION AWAY. 

Why does it want
to give all your social security information away. – SO YOU CAN HAVE A NEW DIGITAL TV SET.
 

The new law is the
Digital Switchover
(Disclosure of Information) Bill.
 

This bill allows the
government to hand over information relating to social security and/or war
pensions to another person on request, if that person is:

• The BBC,
• A company that the government, the BBC or a nominee of the BBC holds a majority stake
  in,
• any person engaged by the BBC, or the secretary of
  state, or a company as described above, to provide any service connected
  with switchover help functions (including establishing whether a person
  needs help with the switchover).

 

And
what information does the Government think it needs to give the BBC about you that is so
important in providing you with digital services.

namely—

• their name, and any alias by which they may
  be known, marital status (if known), address and date of birth;
• their National Insurance number;
• whether they are eligible for any of the
  benefits that will establish entitlement to help and (if so) those in
  respect of which they have an award of benefit;
• the fact that they have ceased to receive
  such benefits, where that is the case;
• details of any partner (including details
  of date of birth and National Insurance number) and whether they receive
  pension credit, income support or income-based jobseeker’s allowance (to
  check upon what level of support the household is entitled to);
• if the qualifying person for disability
  living allowance is a child, whether the responsible adult or adults is
  receiving pension credit, income support or income-based jobseeker’s
  allowance;
• whether they live in a residential care or
  nursing home (so helping to ensure that the right kinds of help are
  available in residential care and nursing home settings);
• details of any person appointed to act on
  their behalf (to allow such people to be contacted to alert them to the
  availability of help);
• the fact that they have died, where that is
  the case.

 

Now
why on earth would the BBC need such information.  If it was a simple case of ‘is this person
entitled to receive help or to receive that help for free’ then a simple
request to the relevant government department who could say yes or no,
or to provide the recipient with a certificate to say that they were entitled
to a free service would be more than adequate. 

Time
to say NO to government. Time to say your personal details are your personal
details not theirs.

Say NO to ID cards, Say NO to
databases, Say NO to NHS spine, say NO to data sharing. 

Write to your MP and tell him NO, NO, NO.

To
put this into perspective, when the Government introduced paper ID cards during
WW2, it was planned for the information about you to be used for 3
purposes.  To Identity you to the police,
to use for food rationing and to receive medical care.

When
it was abolished in 1952 it was found government was using that information for
157 different purposes. 

So whatever they tell you
today, you can be sure it will be used for something different tomorrow.

 

Its all about
presentation, nothing to do with health care. NuLab have pumped more money into
the NHS than any other government, and have spent that money on destroying it
as an effective delivery point of Health Care.

The NHS Centre for Involvement is a consortium
comprising The University of Warwick, The Centre for Public Scrutiny, and LMCA
and is funded by the Department of Health.

Absolutely Nothing to do with Health Care, just the way its packaged
and presented, just another example that demonstrates the government obsession with
the process of health care, rather than health care itself.

This is where the taxpayer’ money has gone. Millions of pounds spent on dross
and pretty pictures rather than Cancer drugs or Nurses pay. This is why real
health care is having to be rationed to “balance the books” and save Patricia
Hewitt’s political life.

 

 

8000 doctors
are now out of a job.

22,230 job losses in 78 trusts since April and 105 community hospitals threatened with the axe. A total of 2,622 hospitals beds have been lost in 28 NHS trusts this
year and 105 community hospitals are also threatened with closure.

All over the
country, hospital doctors do not know if they are coming or going. Or when they
are going. Or where they are going. Or if they are going at all.

Take the careers of thousands of young doctors, throw them into the careers'
combine harvester and let us see what it spits out.

Dr Crippen writes on NHS BLOG DOCTOR
that he receives emails from NHS staff on a daily basis.

It's
all there – people with no interviews, people being told they've got interviews
and then told they haven't, deaneries STILL not having posted their results,
website crashes, emails not being sent, interview bookings not working, one
thread after another about people who still don't know if they have a job and
others who know their career is over. I, along with 30,000 others, have been
sitting, hands shaking, at my computer since 9am (it is now 6:30pm) and still don't know if I
am in with a chance of remaining in my home come August. There has been little
to no communication with us. If you thought morale was low up until this
point…. I would be seriously interested in an audit of how many clinical
mistakes have been made countrywide today. Thank god I haven't been at work.
Tears in every department in every hospital.

government. Some reports say its cost over £12.4 billion so far, other say £20
billion, which is nearer to the NAO report figures.

IS ALL THE TAXPAYERS MONEY FOR HEALTH CARE. It sits in the pockets of the big consultancies, who have nothing
to do with healthcare.
