Patel’s excellent and historically very well informed blog, could be seen as
Israel preparing to launch a strike against Iran, or it may just be Israel’s security services showing some caution.
Israel's
National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Division has issued updated travel warnings for
Israelis travelling abroad.
1. It is advised that travellers should
avoid visiting and leave the area as soon as
possible in the following high to very high-threat countries:
Algeria, Afghanistan, Chechnya, (southern Russia) Djibouti, Egypt, (especially
the Sinai peninsula), Jordan, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kashmir (northern India),
Lebanon Malaysia, Mindanao, (southern Philippines) Northern Nigeria, Pakistan,
Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Southern Thailand, Syria & Yemen.
2. Travellers should postpone
non-essential travel to: Bangladesh, Bangkok, Libya, Oman, Nigeria & south-eastern Turkey (borders with Iraq and Iran).
3. Travellers in general, should avoid
visiting the following countries: Bahrain, Chad, Kenya, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia.
4. Israeli citizens are called upon to be
especially cautious when visiting: Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, & Uzbekistan. (Sources: National Security Council

Of no possible importance is public unveiling of the new
Israeli made “Heron” Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) . This advanced new model
can fly for 2 days at 30,000, night / daytime in all weathers carrying a 250KG
payload (older version 100Kg)
This, the 2nd largest UAV ever made has the most
sophisticated intelligence-gathering equipment on the aircraft to provide
better umanned capabilities in target location and carrying out surveillance.
Satellite communication systems allow usage in long range operations as far
away as Iran.
Meanwhile the Israeli EROS B satellite
launched in May 2006 is providing
excellent heliosynchronous images (i.e images – up to 380 miles wide – are
always taken in sunlight)
