Will
Cameron Go One Step Further?
From Select Privacy.

The Conservatives have
announced a firm policy, and it's good news for civil libertarians: They
plan to scrap the ID cards project should they get into power
. Even better,
they are prepared to stand up to the lobbying of the ID industry, whose
influence on this and related issues was brought to the fore last week thanks
to John Higgins of Intellect (Link).

David Davis responded to the latter robustly:
“Your thinly veiled threat of penalty clauses, at taxpayer’s expense,
is inappropriate and ill-judged.”
(Longrider).

Following on from this, will Dave Cameron, the man who beat him in the Tory
leadership race go one step further – and pledge to dismantle the National
Identity Register
and related centralised databases, including the Spine and Children's
Index
?

Dave Gould of NO2ID this week made use of the WebCameron system to highlight
the significance of ID
Day
(next month) ask the following questions of Cameron:

  • Will you pledge to dismantle the NIR &
all of these other systems, and destroy all the data that has not been
volunteered by the public for them?
  • Why did the Conservatives stop opposing the
Identity Cards Act in Parliament and settle for a largely meaningless
compromise(being given an ID card doesn't mean you have to keep it or use
    it)?

Vote
for Dave Gould at WebCameron, and let's get these questions answered!

Since the
outbreak of Bird Flu at a Bernard Matthews turkey farm in
Suffolk, there has been a mire of information,
counter information, mis information and speculation.

It is time for
the Minister in charge to make a definitive statement as to exactly what the
rules are, what happened and what is going to happen.

We were first
told that the outbreak probably occurred because of a transfer of virus from an
import of dead turkey meat from
Hungary.

If such a
transfer of virus can occur from dead meat, why did Defra order the carcases of
the slaughter 160,000 turkeys from the
Suffolk farm to be transported across Britain in open trucks, which could possibly
infect wild birds on route.

We now hear that there
is concern that Bernard Matthews has exported cooked meat products back to
Hungary, but at the same time Defra says that heat
and cooking will kill the virus.

If this is the
case, why were the carcases not pyred and burned in
Suffolk.

Too many
inconsistencies, to much dis-information, or is this story being used to divert
attention from something, or the mistakes already made.

DEFRA get it
right, and deliver a single message.

In a reference to
released with no charge terror arrestee Abu Bakr’s claims of a police state, John Reid told the
BBC'S Politics Show yesterday:

“It's a
completely absurd proposition, the idea that someone who is on, actually, a state-financed
television station, having been released under the laws of our democratic,
libertarian constitution, against the wishes of the police who wanted to hold
him longer”.

Sounds more like a propaganda statement from a North
Korean minister.

Since when has
the
BBC been state funded, or a state organ.

No longer do NuLab
see anything as ours, they believe its all theirs, to use at will.

With the rhetoric
and accusations mounting daily, the world media attention is currently on
Iraq and the possibility of the war spreading
to
Iran.

The speculation
and the warnings of such an attack have been roundly condemned by groups as
diverse as ex US generals and inter faith groups.

What is currently
going unnoticed is the
US military build up in Japan.

Following
agreement with the Japanese government in October 05 to reduce the number of US
troops on the
island of Okinawa, the US has secretly been building that number up
again to over 50,000.

Today, tucked
away in a small news
item
was the news that the US Air Force is deploying its newest and latest nuclear
capable F-22 Raptor, a stealth fighter bomber.

The 12 aircraft
were due to land at the island's Kadena airbase on Sunday but the
US said they had turned back to Hawaii for operational reasons.

The jets are to
be stationed on
Okinawa for three months – the first time the
jets have been deployed outside the
US.

Would
George Bush be stupid enough to launch an attack on N.Korea while everyone else
is looking at Iran.?  Only time will
tell

Update 12/02/06 –

The Jets deployment comes as the US continues to take part in six-nation talks in the Chinese capital, Beijing, aimed at bringing an end to North Korea's nuclear arms programme. Today is the last day of those talks.

The Chief US negotiator to North Korea has today told Pyongyang to stop stalling and accept a deal

Analysts say questions are already being asked about the usefulness of continuing the talks, if there are no tangible results again this time round.

Is this an indication that the US is running out of patience? Is the US no longer concerned about talking, knowing that they now have aircraft stationed on Okinawa that could strike North Korea.
