I wrote before Christmas about how the government had all but destroyed the UK IT market by importing cheaper foreign IT workers, to keep costs down on the multitude of government IT projects.

It would now appear that our government, obviously with the future in mind, is working on a way to get them out again by changing the rules of the Highly Skilled Migrant Program that brought them here in the first place, making it all but impossible for most of them to take up the promise of permanent residence that they had been working towards.  Read the article here in Business News  

Whether this is to ensure that once the government IT programmes are finished we don’t have a multitude of out of work IT specialists to support or to maintain a level of secrecy over what they had built for the government is unclear.

But that would be somewhat cynical of me..eh.
