I have written previously about how Britain (and America) is heading for the authoritarian state status, and at the same time spread the war in the Middle East.

The modus operandi of any fledgling authoritarian state is;

  1. Create a fear, real or contrived.
  2. Engineer events to give credence to that fear.
  3. Find a portion of the population to blame for that fear.
  4. Enact laws to ‘protect’ the majority.
  5. Neuter the press.
  6. Further engineered events, keep up the scare propaganda.
  7. Save the majority by containing, then detaining the target group.
  8. Introduction of emergency powers and the suspension of political and judicial process.
  9. Look for other groups to blame.
  10. Total control

Is it beginning to start to ring bells, look familiar.    Germany, Soviet Union.

So, taking the numbered list above, see how far down the road to an authoritarian state we already are.

  1. After 9/11, the fear was real, but hyped, continually pushed and pressed and hyped again. There are still too many unanswered questions and too much evidence pointing to this being a managed event, one which cost the lives of 3000+ people and triggered all the events that have followed. 2 years of total hype, then war, first in Afghanistan, followed by Iraq.
  2. London Bombings? Many people now believe that this was an engineered event and not the work of terrorists.  An exercise happening on the same day involving a London bus and the tube network? The Police have put out the most derisory of reports, which has been rubbished by official sources as well as press, with all the evidence so far presented either circumstantial or wrong. The government have refused on numerous occasions to hold an enquiry. Why? What is to hide?  If they have nothing to hide, they have nothing to fear !   It is the view of many that the Police have conveniently ‘found and matched’ the alleged bombers to fit the outrage.
  3. Muslims, and if you believe for one moment government press releases, spin, the press and TV, ALL Muslims are to be feared, watched and reported.  Blame culture gone mad.
  4. To name but a few, The Terrorism Act 2006, Terrorism (United Nations Measures) Order 2006, The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006, Police and Justice Act,  Public Order Act, Extradition Act 2003, Identity Cards Act, National Identification Register, Computer Misuse Act, Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (SOCPA), violent offender order' (Voo), Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 - this Bill was ‘the 52nd Home Office Bill since the Government came to power in 1997, and collectively the new powers granted will allow the government to change the terms of the Acts almost at will, and the police to act as investigator, prosecutor and judge, with the power to arrest anyone, at any time, for anything whether they have committed an offence or not.  All of the Acts have restrictions with regard to the Freedom of Information Act, making the actions of government and police in the main secretive and free from public gaze. In parallel a Statutory Instrument and a new Private Members Bill are currently before parliament which restricts further public access to information with changes and exemptions to the Freedom of Information Act.
  5. The Serious Crime Bill, laid before the House of Lords today, with the specific inclusion of things like the incitement clause in the Official Secrets Act under these new inchoate offences, means a clampdown on Government whistleblowers, the media and bloggers.
  6. Propaganda, scare tactics, like the Heathrow Airport scare, (also refused an enquiry), the Alexander Litvinenko killing (again, lack of detail, refused to acknowledge concentrations of P210), the Terror Threat email warning, constant weekly warnings by Sir Ian Blair of imminent terrorist activity but nothing specific, troops to be sent to power stations and oil facilities, scare scare scare.  The 24/7 alleged bombers, currently on trial.  The opinion on the street is yes, these were stupid kids trying to make a statement, but no, they did not have explosives. These were added to give the government a show trial. The government needs a quick win, as so far, it has not found any real terrorists and the scare tactics are wearing very thin.  It has been suggested that the Polonium-210 was smuggled into Britain by Russian couriers on behalf of the UK government (positive trace of P210 was found in the British Embassy in Moscow), which if the government were planning a staged ‘event’ with a ‘dirty bomb’ this would be an ideal component.  A dirty bomb, according to experts would contaminate a very small area (a few hundred metres) around the detonation, and could easily and quickly be dampened down and washed away, but the scare value is enormous, causing total panic to which the government would have to react with item 7.
  7. Sir Ian Blair has already spoken of internment, following ‘a truly appalling act of terror'.  A staged dirty bomb perhaps.
  8. The Consolidation Bill will provide the Government with all the powers it needs, not that it doesn’t have enough already.
  9. The Mental Health Act and violent offender order' (Voo) otherwise known as SuperASBO will allow the forced detention of anyone with cognitive deficiencies, entrenched pro-criminal or antisocial attitudes (probably aimed at the Gypsy and travellers population), anyone with mental health issues, possession of paraphernalia related to violent offending (this could include anyone with a baseball or cricket bat), or extremist material (this could include political material not conducive with NuLab), or anyone who may not yet have committed an offence. Combined these 2 laws are very similar to laws that were used by the Germans to round up not only Jews, but Gypsies, Romanies, the Mentally ill, petty thieves and robbers and put them into concentration camps.
  10. Good night Vienna.

Items 8,9 and 10 would probably occur at the same time that Israel, as the surrogate aggressor, bombs the Iranian nuclear facilities, which pundits are estimating could be as soon as the end of March beginning of April. By then the fleets would be in position off the coast of Iran, the extra troops requested for Iraq would be in place, and in today’s news the US General in Afghanistan has called for a further 20,000 troops, but before the newly elected Democratic Congress can raise a law to stop Bush, or before recently delivered Russian short-range anti-aircraft systems TOR-M1’s are operational in Iran.

At a not-for-quotation briefing before his national televised speech on Jan. 10, Bush and his top national security aides stunned senior TV news executives with suggestions that a major confrontation with Iran is looming.

Commenting about the briefing on MSNBC after Bush’s nationwide address, NBC’s
Washington bureau chief Tim Russert said “there’s a strong sense in the upper echelons of the White House that Iran is going to surface relatively quickly as a major issue – in the country and the world – in a very acute way.”

Russert and NBC anchor Brian Williams depicted this White House emphasis on
Iran as the biggest surprise from the briefing as Bush stepped into the meeting to speak passionately about why he is determined to prevail in the Middle East.

“The President’s inference was this: that an entire region would blow up from the inside, the core being
Iraq, from the inside out,” Williams said, paraphrasing Bush.

Hopefully I will be totally wrong…but I need convincing.
