NuLab seem to be getting rather good at this coronation of leaders lark. Who needs elections??

Is this the 'New Kind of Politics' that we have been promised by Gordon Brown.

As predicted, Wendy Alexander, the sister of the very same Douglas Alexander who is in the Cabinet, will be the Labour Party's next leader in Scotland, and the first woman to take on the job.

She was not contested by any other MSP for the post, and received 41
nominations for the post – only five MSPs didn't put her forward. Maybe
they all wanted jobs in her shadow team! Although it seems no other
candidate had the stomach for the job. Maybe we should not be that
surprised.
