John Prescott has landed a job in Europe to keep him busy during his final years as an MP, it was revealed.

The
former deputy prime minister, who bowed out alongside Tony Blair last
week, will be a British representative on the Strasbourg-based Council
of Europe.

Gordon Brown confirmed the
appointment in a low-key announcement as he indicated that Mr Prescott
was still looking for new accommodation to move out of his
grace-and-favour home.

Mr Prescott's
post-government living arrangements were held up after he was taken ill
with pneumonia weeks before he stepped down.

The Prime Minister indicated that he was still living at Admiralty House while he searched for a new home in London, while Tony Blair is still living at Chequers.

“Following his recent illness, (Mr
Prescott) is making the necessary arrangements to move out of his
official residence,” Mr Brown said in a Commons written reply.

In
a further statement, Mr Brown said that the former deputy premier had
been made full representative of the UK delegation to the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The
body – not to be confused with the EU European Council of government
heads – was established in 1949 to promote human rights and freedoms. The
post – which is unpaid but includes expenses – means Mr Prescott will
also sit on the Assembly of Western European Union, another
organisation distinct from the EU.

So whilst Prescott is living at the taxpayers expense in a flat he is not entitled to, his constituents are calling for help after the floods. See Hull has become the “forgotten city”.

I guess Prescott doesn't need these voters any more.

As Blair and Prescott are no longer ministers, we can assume that they are paying board and lodging back to the Treasury!.  No, thought not.

Brown, the Treasury is not a private theifdom. It's our money, and we say kick them out, let them stay in Hotels like other private citizens. They have troughed enough money out of us over the past 10 years, it time to stop the abuse.

The first 31,365 TV licence payers every year pay for nothing
else than 11 BBC executives salaries.

The next 132,841 licence payers pay for Jonathon Ross who is
on £18m a year.
