Today we see two
events, and last week a series of events, all reported in the press, but with very
different levels of equality.

Event
1
.

Four Britons (Muslims) detained on the
war-torn border between
Somalia and Kenya three weeks ago have returned to the UK.

Upon arrival at Heathrow the men were
immediately taken into custody under the Terrorism
Act
– but then released several hours later.

A Metropolitan
Police spokeswoman said: “The men, all in their 20s and from the
London area, were taken to a west London police station where they are currently
detained. They have not been arrested.”

However, they
were released from police custody shortly before
4pm.

The
pictures in the Sky news report show a Somali Islamic Courts fighter, although
there is no public evidence that these men were fighters, or that they were just
visiting family and were escaping the war torn region following the Ethiopian invasion.

Event
2.

A former British
National Party election candidate has admitted stockpiling explosives,
Rocket Launchers, Chemicals and a nuclear biological suit (NBC) for what he believes will be a future civil war in
Britain.

Robert Cottage,
49, pleaded guilty to possessing explosives on the first day of his trial at
Manchester Crown Court.

His wife said he
often boasted of wanting to shoot Mr Blair and Lib Dem peer Lord Greaves, the
court was told.

He
was charged with possessing explosives. Lots of evidence here, as being shown
in court, but the Sky news report shows no pictures at all.  No pictures of kitchens where the explosives
were made, or the cupboards where it was stored etc etc etc.

Last
week Event
3
.

A
series of letter bombs explode at the DVLC, the offices of the accounting firm
where congestion charges are processed, and the offices of the company that
runs the congestion charge on behalf of TfL.

Absolute
terror amongst the recipients and colleagues of those letter bombed but we are
told by the ACPO at a press conference introduced thus, “M
y name is Anton Setchell and I am the
National Coordinator for Domestic Extremism, My role does not cover terrorism”.

The
press were shown and told
by
ACC Anton Setchell “I am now able to release two highly edited photographs
which I hope will help the public understand what we are dealing with”.

Conclusion:

  • Do nothing except be a Muslim
escaping a war zone = Terrorist Act
  • Be middle English and Stockpile
    explosives = possession charges
  • Actually send and
    explode bombs = Domestic Extremism

No equality of action here.

Unless we can see an equality of action by Government, Police and Press, then I
think that Abu
Bakr’s claim
that
Britain is now an anti Muslim police state is spot on.

To date this Government,
Press and the ACPO have shown by their actions that they have made the decision that terrorism is only capable of
being wrought by Muslims.

Politicians and the Police are judged not by what
they say, but by what they do.

The NHS is sick,
the patient needs fixing.  It needs new
funds.

It needs new
funds not as before, money spent on administrators, on ‘consultants’ (and I don’t
mean the medical kind), on IT projects, spin machines and smoke and mirrors accounting
practices.

It needs to be
rid of the Spine project and all the associated database projects that have
been sucking the NHS dry, causing division and many legal questions over the
right of GP’s to protect their patients files, security of the data and who
will have access to it.

Do away with the
bullshit from Ministers that closing down beds is a sign of success, rather
than the truth which is there is no more money to fund them. The 12,500 staff
that have been laid off in the past year know the truth.

As for the IT
projects within NHS, well they are terminally ill. The high tech companies that
are putting it in are saying it, not just the protestors and political
opposition, but the IT firms.

Fujitsu is one of
the main suppliers to NPfIT, after winning three local service provider
contracts worth a total of almost £2bn.

Andrew Rollerson
is a senior Fujitsu executive, and recently
gave a
presentation
at the Successful Implementation of NPfIT 2007 conference on 6 and 7
February. This is what he had to
say.

“What we are
trying to do is run an enormous programme with the techniques that we are
absolutely familiar with for running small projects. And it isn't working. And it isn't going to work. Unless we do some
serious thinking about that – about the challenges of scale and how you scale
up to an appropriate size – then I think we are out on a limb.”

“There is a
belief that the national programme is somehow going to propel transformation in
the NHS simply by delivering an IT system. Nothing could be further from the
truth. A vacuum, a chasm, is opening up.”

Amazing !!! After nearly 10 years, 20 billion
pounds spent and another 20 billion committed, they are only now beginning to think about how to do it !!!

Cut the losses, scrap the project, and put the money
where its needed, into front line services, where NuLab promised in their
manifesto to put them in the first place.

Oil and gas
production in the
North
Sea
is now
expected to be about 10 per cent lower over the next few years than previously
thought, according to the annual
survey
from the UK Offshore Operators’ Association.

The main reason
is described as “poor reservoir performance”: in other words, wells not
yielding as much oil and gas as had been hoped.

The faster than
expected decline in production is bad news for
Britain’s energy security, increasing the
country’s dependence on imported oil and gas, and also for Gordon Brown, the
Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Although there is
still an estimated 16bn-25bn barrels of oil equivalent in oil and gas left to
be extracted, old wells are running dry and new wells are generally small. The
glory days seem over.

We presume Gordon
Brown is going to look to the British Taxpayer to make up the shortfall.
