View Article  Sarkozy, the current EU chairman, tries to set up a police state in France
Using the drowsiness of summer, without any public debate nor legislative discussion, the French government is adopting the use of a police database aiming at a retrieving information on all kinds of activists involved in politics, unions, NGOs, religious groups, ... since the age of 13 (!) and without any limitations in the range of information collected, nor any time limit in keeping the datas. This is what is happening next to the celebration of the French Revolution, in Sarkozy's France. Even the infamous Patriot Act in the USA does not go that far!   more »
View Article  So no-one has actually died from passive smoking....
More than '79 000 adults' die in the EU per annum from the effects of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). This claim is the driver behind the proposals by the Commission to bring in a binding directive later this year to enforce smoking bans in workplaces. Given that the impact of such a directive will be considerable, both economically and socially, could the Commission please name three or four people who have died from ETS within the European Union in the last two years?   more »

OFCOM has ruled that Channel 4 failed in its duty to be impartial and reflect a range of views when it broadcast the Great Global Warming Swindle, a documentary that set out to expose the lies around man made global warming. But, strangely, Al Gore’s climate change propaganda, An Inconvenient Truth, can be shown in schools as long as the teacher tells the children that it doesn’t represent an alternative viewpoint.   more »
View Article  The politics of the EU - Communitarianism
Known to political insiders as Communitarianism; in public they mostly call it bipartisan support, or the Third Way: The Language of NuLabour, the language of the progressive Tory Party, the language of the neutered LibDems and most definitely the language of the all powerful elite of the unelected EU. Governments and politicians all across Europe talk of Liberty and Democracy but like a conveyor belt continue to enact Authoritarian legislation.   more »
View Article  Describe the EU, describe the politics
I know that so many have been at a loss to describe exactly what it is the EU is building for itself and it has been the subject of so many articles, comments, journals and investigations. We look at the way the EU has grown up, the history is readily available from the first mooting of the EEC, the EC to the present day EU. The trouble is that so many have found it difficult to label, and because of that it has been almost impossible to counter. As a super state entity (post Lisbon EU) is has variously been called Communist, Nazi or Corporist. It is none of these things in their true sense. It is not Communist (although very heavily influenced, especially in the institutions), it is not Nazi (although many of the methods employed by the Nazis to gain power (especially the politics of fear) have been used by national governments), nor is it truly corporist in nature, although big business is a major political driver. It appears to be a rag bag of them all, mixed up and very difficult to counter because it has no name, no form.   more »

GORDON Brown was last night accused of betraying Britain with a “grubby”surrender to Brussels. Under a cloak of secrecy, the Government finally ratified the Lisbon Treaty earlier this week and committed the country to a new deluge of European meddling. In a sign of the Prime Minister’s personal embarrassment over the betrayal, the historic step was only made public yesterday – 24 hours after the covert ceremony had taken place.   more »
View Article  Government wont be happy until everyone is on a criminal database
If we had suggested, ten years ago, that one day soon, the government would draw up a list of prescribed occupations: that they would build a database of millions of people who would need to register for those occupations; and that a committee of Public Safety would be set up with power of absolute veto over every individual on the database; it is just possible that you would have decided that even El Reg had taken leave of its oh-so-cynical senses.   more »

View Article  Challenge to The Legality of Speed Cameras
The issue concerns the process by which speed measuring devices that have come into use since July 1992 have been authorised. Since that date, the Secretary of State has no longer been empowered to approve the devices without laying a Statutory Instrument (SI) before both Houses of Parliament in each individual case. This has not been done, meaning that the evidence from these devices is not admissible in law.   more »

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Martin Rosenbaum tells us that if you want to get really detailed financial documents from your local council, there is a much more powerful tool than the Freedom of Information Act - but blink and you may miss the chance to use it. It's the Audit Commission Act in England, which gives you the right to see the accounts and all the accompanying financial documents for the council's audit. In Scotland it's the Local Authority Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 1985; in Wales the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2004; and in Northern Ireland the Local Government (Accounts and Audits) Regulations (NI) 2006.   more »

On Friday 4th July, Bob Geldorf made a powerful speech in support of David Davis's Liberty campaign to an audience in Hull Guildhall. The Press have unilaterally ignored it, apart from a few who have acknowledged that Geldorf was there, not one publisher has printed his speech (not that I can find), possibly the most powerful in many years. In order to redress that in some small way, I want to give this the widest possible audience and so you can read it here, and of course on the David Davis campaign website.   more »

I've been casting my eye over the latest quarterly economic data from the Office of National Statistics. Here are a few selected highlights:

Unemployment up to 5.3%

Average earnings down 8.44%

Total government debt up to £606.2 billion

Total international reserves $60.6 billion (~£30.44 billion; gold, foreign currency etc.)

Gross international debt £6.2 trillion

Yes, you read that last figure right. Six point two trillion pounds.

All Hail the Great Leader, for Tractor production is up for the 10th year.....

View Article  The Lisbon Treaty Campaign .,.. an Irish Anarchist View
Anyone familiar with Europe has some idea about the Lisbon treaty. This is a typical piece of welfare state protectionism through state enlargement or "federalism". From what I understand the twenty-seven countries (at last count) within the EU are to ratify (bureaucratic speak for forcing unto "their" populations) a treaty which will streamline the integration of police and other forms of interference with everyday life.   more »

View Article  What the EU means to the UK now.
Back in 2004, the Campaign for Truth produced this 40 minute film on what the EU would mean to you and everyone else in the UK if it continued on its path.

It is more relevant today than ever before, now that our corrupt politicians have voted through the Lisbon Treaty and broken every constitutional rule in the book.

You can view the film here.

And for those who wish to endorse the feelings of the thousands who are getting the chance to air their views please visit the BBC website Have Your Say.

Let them know exactly how you feel.

Never in British History has so much been stolen from the British People by so few.

From the very beginning a single super state was the purpose and deception was the method they chose to employ to achieve it - even our own ministers were, and are in on it. It’s beyond me why anyone would wish to join an organisation so corrupt that it has been unable to get its accounts audited for the past fifteen years.

The whole scam started at a conference in Berlin in 1942, where a European Economic Community was proposed. In one of the papers, delivered by Dr Horst Jecht, are the following words: “Two things are necessary for the creation of such an uniform economic area. Firstly a certain degree of economic integration within a given area. Put another way, the way in which it has governed its life for hundreds and thousands of years has to be overthrown and has to be left behind.”

This conference was followed by one in 1944, entitled “How Germany will dominate the peace when it loses the war”.

These are some quotes from prominent EU proponents and illustrate their over-arching arrogance:

“We are working discreetly …….. and all the time we are denying with our lips what we are doing with our hands.” - Arnold Toynbee - Historical researcher and one of the founding fathers of the EU, papa to discredited Polly Toynbee.

“I have never understood why public opinion about European ideas should be taken into account.” - Raymond Barre, former French Prime Minister.

The following quote is from the founder of the European Movement, Jean Monnet in a private correspondence.

“Europe’s nations should be guided towards the super state without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation.”

Jean Monnet again:

“The fusion of economic functions would compel nations to fuse their sovereignty into that of a single European State”, 3rd April 1952

Peter Thorneycroft MP, June 1947
"It is as well to state this at the outset - no government dependent on a democratic vote could possibly agree in advance to the sacrifices which any adequate plan for European Union must involve. The people must be led slowly and unconsciously into the abandonment of their traditional economic defences……. No satisfactory economic plan for Europe can be devised without sacrifice of sovereignty by the nations concerned."

Raymond Barre, former French Prime Minister
“I have never understood why public opinion about European ideas should be taken into account.”

This was Edward Heath in 1972:
"There is no question of eroding any national sovereignty; there is no blueprint for a federal Europe. There are some in this country who fear that in going into Europe, we shall in some way sacrifice independence and sovereignty. These fears I need hardly say are completely unjustified"

He later admitted to lying to both parliament and the British people. The same Edward Heath in 1990, in response to the question "Did you have in mind a United States of Europe in 1972?" replied "Of course, yes"

Joschka Fischer, German Foreign Minister - The Guardian, London, 26th November 1998
"Transforming the European Union into a single State with one army, one constitution and one foreign policy is the critical challenge of the age"

Clause Cheysson, former French Foreign Secretary:
"The Europe of Maastricht could only have been created in the absence of democracy."

Tony Blair, when standing for Parliament in 1982.
"Above all, the European Economic Community Takes away Britain's freedom to follow the sort of economic policies we need."

Tony Blair, when standing for Parliament in 1997.
"We'll negotiate a withdrawal from the EEC, which has drained our natural resources and destroyed jobs."

Then, Tony Blair, speaking to the EU in 2005:
"I am a passionate pro-European. I always have been."

Jean-Luc Dehaene, Former Belgian Prime Minister and Vice-President of the EU Convention, Irish Times, 2nd June 2004
“We know that nine out of 10 people will not have read the Constitution and will vote on the basis of what politicians and journalists say. More than that, if the answer is No, the vote will probably have to be done again, because it absolutely has to be Yes. ”

Gordon Brown continues the tradition by denying the UK a referendum on the EU constitution.

Our politicians have surrendered the UK’s sovereignty into the hands of an unelected, bureaucratic, corrupt and power hungry organisation. They were not entitled to do it and their actions could be called treasonable.

Write to your MP and tell them directly how you feel about your country being stolen from you.
You can write directly from here Theyworkforyou.com

Forget the claims of the Conservatives that they believe in Libertarianism, they voted for nearly all the Orwellian legislation and further integration with the EU, forget the LibDems for they are more pro EU and Authoritarian the Labour.
